Storyline

40 years after Arthur Kipps' experience at Eel Marsh house, a group of children under the care of two women, escaping from war-torn London, arrive to the house and become the next target for the ghost of Jennette Humfrye, otherwise known as The Woman in Black. With the help of a fellow soldier, the women and children must fend off the spirit of Jennette Humfrye, and end her presence once and for all.

To start out, it looks like The Woman In Black 2 is the first movie that came out this new year of 2015. I like seeing the movies coming out, and if I'll have an interest in seeing them. I hadn't heard about this movie, until I saw the trailer for this film advertised just two days ago while watching The New Year's Eve show in NYC where the ball drops to welcome in the new year. I also saw the trailer for a new Cinderella movie on the same show. But, while watching the trailer for The Woman In Black 2, the movie looked like a horror movie, and since I like horror movies I thought it would be interesting to see with a friend if I could. I also thought to myself how this is a sequel to the horror movie, why can't I remember the first one and then I vaguely remembered how I think I tried seeing it with friends a few years ago, but we ended up not going. So, I still don't know what happened in the first one. But, I liked this one a lot.

Let me talk about what makes this movie great. Well, if you're up for horror movies, than this is a good horror movie to watch. It is pretty scary, but I wouldn't say it is quite as scary as two other horror movies that a lot of us have seen that I'd want to mention, Insidious and Insidious Chapter 2. It did not have that intense scary music we hear in Insidious or it was not as graphic. It was about as scary as two other recent horror movies I also saw with friends called The Possession and Mama. The thing that really made this movie scary was the jump scenes along with the ghosts and setting. This is what makes the movie good. Well, for one sometimes it's nice to watch movies that do not take place in the present day, and this movie takes place in London in 1941. I'm a guy that likes history, and it's cool to see a setting at a scary house in a scary atmosphere that was supposed to take place during World War 2. What else makes this movie great, well I normally feel like horror movies are worth watching, especially if you feel like you can handle the horror, as there are a number of jump scenes in this movie and it has an interesting plot with a lot of action, not just horror. Now, to mention a con for this movie which is why I'd rate it a 9. I felt like we did not get to know the characters in the movie too well. Maybe, it's because I hadn't seen the first one. But, I felt like the movie revolved more around the action, the setting, and horror rather then help us know as much what was going on.

One other thing to report, is I notice how some people on the IMDb message boards ask for a crowd report. I saw it today at a 2:30 PM showing. There were around 30 people in the movie theater, basically all young adults. There were some couples there and adolescents. I went with a friend. I did not hear any screaming while in the movie theater, despite all the jump scenes, and I don't remember hearing laughter either. You seem to notice these emotions more when the movie theater has a lot of people. But, if you want your own crowd report and are interested in horror movies, then this movie is for you.
